Workout Free

Looking for a lifting-app alternative?

Dedicated lifting apps are good at sets and reps and usually stop there. If your training week contains runs as well as squats, keeping them in two apps means neither one can tell you what your week actually looked like.

Workout Free is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Strong or any other app named by its users.

One log, both kinds of training

Lifts, cardio and body weight sit in a single day-grouped feed. The progress screen stacks weekly sets against weekly distance, which is the chart that tells you whether you have quietly stopped doing one of them.

  • Sets, reps and weight for lifting, with per-exercise history and bests.
  • Distance and duration for cardio, in your own units.
  • One body weight reading per day, charted as a trend.

No plan builder, no templates

This app does not write your program or hold routine templates. You bring the program; it records what happened. If routine templates and rest timers are the reason you use a lifting app, this will feel bare.

  • No routines, templates or workout timers.
  • No exercise animations or muscle diagrams inside the app.
  • Free text exercise names, so anything you invent gets tracked.

Free, and easy to leave

Every feature is available on every account, and the export button gives you one CSV per kind of entry in the same format the importer accepts. The test of whether a tracker respects you is how hard it is to leave.

Common questions

Can I import my lifting history?

Yes, via CSV. Map your columns to the app's export format and upload it from the data screen.

Does it have rest timers or routine templates?

No. It is a log, not a coach.

Does it estimate one-rep max?

The log records what you lifted. For estimates there is a free one-rep max calculator that needs no account.

Is there an app to install?

It is a web app and installs to your home screen from the browser. There is nothing to download from an app store.

Write it down and find out

Log your cardio, your lifts and what you weigh, and see whether the last three months went anywhere. Free, with no paid tier and a CSV export of everything.
